Over 700 years
History above the Lech Valley

Castle
HOFHEGNENBERG

Hofhegnenberg Castle has towered over the Lech Valley for centuries and is still a meeting place today. As a former aristocratic residence with medieval roots, it characterises the region not only with its striking architecture, but above all with its lively surroundings.

Today, the castle regularly opens its doors for events, cultural formats and regional markets - the traditional Kipferlmarkt in particular has established itself as a permanent meeting place for visitors from near and far. Hofhegnenberg combines history with the present and remains a place that brings people together.

In the historical field of tension
between Munich and Augsburg

The history of Hofhegnenberg Castle begins in the 13th century, when a medieval castle was built on this site. In the 16th century, it was remodelled into a representative castle complex in the Renaissance style.

It is remarkable that the castle survived the Thirty Years' War almost unscathed and has therefore been able to preserve its historical substance to this day. Hofhegnenberg changed hands several times over the centuries and continued to develop.
