Bavarian tradition revitalised: Oktoberfest at Hofhegnenberg Castle

With a private Oktoberfest for invited guests, Schloss Hofhegnenberg became a meeting place for Bavarian joie de vivre, music and tradition - all in the name of shared culture.

When the Munich Oktoberfest had to be cancelled due to the pandemic, the European Heritage Project created its own festive setting at Schloss Hofhegnenberg. Around 250 invited guests celebrated a private Oktoberfest in a specially set up marquee not far from the castle, impressively combining Bavarian tradition with a historical backdrop.

Musical accompaniment from regional folk bands, traditional greetings, Bavarian food and modern show interludes created an authentic yet contemporary atmosphere. In compliance with the applicable rules, Schloss Hofhegnenberg once again became a lively venue where history is not only preserved, but actively lived.
